This photo comes courtesy of Vicky Lynde with the following story:
"Several weeks ago my husband and I
headed up to Vermont to run some errands. He decided to drive up the
Green River Road and told me he had seen some ducks several days earlier.
We slowed down as we drove and they were in the general area he had seen
them in before. We couldn't determine what they were. I always carry my
camera with me after missing dozens upon dozens of great shots through
life, so was able to get some pictures. There was no place to 'hide' in
as you had when taking the pics of the 'teen' mergansers you talked about,
and there were a couple adults with the group. So they were a bit edgier
and kept moving quickly out of range."
Well Vicky, you've found a wonderful family of common mergansers!
